Anyone who looks down to the ground will notice upon closer inspection: within just one square meter, the entire spectrum of becoming and passing takes place. Interdependent processes of development constantly give rise to new forms. Artist Paul Diestel invites us to pause and marvel. Beginning with the observation of maple seeds, fossils, or the pupal stages of moths, he creates unique sculptures. For him, the sculptural process is like digging for the essential by removing what is unnecessary. Through the reduction of form, Diestel seeks primordial shapes that lie at the foundation of things.
